Got meself a Back-up…

by admin on Jun.25, 2009, under All stuff

I couldn’t execute a writing test because HDTune doesn’t support multipartitions on flash drives, I’ll remove the U3 partition and retest the drive when i have time for that!

Ok i really have to sleep now, gotta hit the bus after 6 hours, i'll just publish the post and get on it later..
Check out the gallery for some pics and screenshots of the program and the read test.

So i went on the internet looking for new stuff on the market, and i zapped by this new device from sandisk, which is called “Sandisk Cruzer Ultra Backup”.

I found the main feature [The backup] quite interesting so i went on a review hunt.

The Sandisk site didn’t supply a good feature chart of this product, at third-party sites such as retailers or distributors had their own specs.

Poorly, i did not catch a good review about this device so i went shopping.

At the Mediamarkt, there were flash drives from 8G to 64G, I bought the 8G, which is obviously the cheapest, i didn’t want to spend too much money for a flash drive with a backup button on it :p – I’ve spent €34 for this device.

So, here comes the most useless, pointless, time wasting review ever!

The stick looks very nice, is lightweighted, got kind of a charming ambient red-light effect when plugged in [i can't see it because i use a notebook, the usb ports are on the back, i really have to close the lid, lean forward, and stare at the light...] and uses a slider for it’s USB insertion, In my opinion, the slide system is real crap!
I mean if you press too hard you might damage the main board or even crack the chip. Another thing will be the USB plug being exposed to like everything, if you have wolly pants it might get in, the thing is not waterproof at all in my opinion.

This is my opinion about the phisycal part, let’s check the logical features, the hardware, the software, let’s dig in it’s soul and find out what it’s good for humanity!
[gotta watch out, me hiking on a bad rail..]

So, for the first time i plugged it in, vista showed me the Autorun stuff, twice!
this means the device is U3 compatible and i somehow got ripped off, because the backup application is a U3 app, and i don’t like U3 at all, so if i reformat the damn thing, i’ll have an over payed flash drive with a backup button which doesn’t work at all! :x
